UC Cyber Security Awareness Fundamentals Training FAQs
Cyber Security Awareness training provides information and reminders on threats facing the University and what each of us can to do mitigate them.

Overview

  • Effective course date, December 1st, 2018
  • 10 modules with interactions and a Knowledge Check
  • 35min approximate completion time
  • Use Chrome, Firefox, IE11 (in native mode)

Safari is not recommended

  • Only one version of the course

o Previously, there were 2 versions, an Initial Course version and a Refresher Course
o Children’s Hospital Oakland has a version managed on their own system, HealthStream

Who is required to take the course?

  • All active status payroll employees and registered students

Who is not required to take the course?

  • Emeritus/WOSY, WOS (without salary), affiliates and volunteers

What browsers are supported?

  • Chrome, IE11 & Edge (both in native mode), Firefox
  • Not Recommended: Safari (see ‘Why Safari is not recommended?’ below)

What can I expect from this course?

  • An Introduction followed by 10 modules with interactions
  • A 5 question Knowledge Check

When will the course be assigned?

  • Starting January, course assignments and an email notifications will be sent.
  • You will not receive an email notification if you completed the new course prior to this time.

What is the training requirement frequency?

  • The training is required annually based on date of completion.

Examples:
o If you completed the course in the month of June 2018, you will take training near the annual date of June 2019
o If you are overdue, then you should take the training now or wait until you receive an email notification January. 

Why Safari is not recommended?

  • While taking the 5 question Knowledge Check, there is a loss of navigation functionality. You will not be able to advance
  • In full page mode, the Next button does not appear, and you will not be able to advance to the next slide
